Getting Unstuck

When I was going through my divorce in 2014 I did a lot of self reflection and realized how much I wasn’t taking care of myself both mentally and physically. With that in mind I signed up for my first art retreat on the North Fork of Long Island and walked into a house full of strangers. That retreat became a huge turning point in my life, I made new friends and it changed the way I looked at my own art process. (Thank you @matiroseart@daratroshane and @deborahbelica!!!) Since then I’ve been on 9 retreats total, each experience has brought in new friends, new ways of looking at art and a new Amazon shopping cart loaded with materials to play with. In 2015 I met @brennasophia24 at @tracyverdugo ‘s retreat! She’s been at 4 of the 9 retreats I’ve done and it’s so nice to reconnect with older art friends while making new ones together! Each retreat has been a fun and safe space to learn new things, share, geek out about paint colors (Yay Paynes Grey!!) and just talk shop, laugh, and create. I’m so grateful for each experience I’ve been fortunate to go on! A huge thank you to @indarsworld for this New Years retreat it was such a perfect time to get out of my head and start the year with new ideas and techniques (and yes my amazon cart is now full again lol!! I’m now obsessed with absorbent and pastel grounds and excited to use them more in my work) Thank you so much!! 💗🖌️🎨 And thank you again for the amazing hospitality and meals @greenvillearms it was such a lovely place I can’t wait to come back!
